The Power of Calf-Manna For Horses

← back to blog home page

grune-906049-editedGrune Heidi Farm is a 501©3 Non For Profit Horse Rescue in Lakeland, Florida that is focused on the prevention of abuse, neglect, and the protection of American Saddlebreds and Arabian horses from the threat of slaughter. GHF strives to increase public awareness of these issues through the development of educational materials and the use of social media outlets. The majority of rescued horses are up for adoption, and find new forever homes!

Erika Gilbert, founder and manager of the rescue, has been feeding Manna-Pro® for over 20 years; "After all these years I have found that feeding products such as Calf-Manna® works best for us and the horses we save. Why I chose it?  RESULTS!  Calf-Manna has been a staple in our rehabilitation feeding program".

Grune Heidi Farm has rescued dozens of horses from slaughter, take a look at just a few of the horses the rescue has saved:

"Dreama" is a two year old American Saddlebred filly that was saved from being shipped to slaughter in PA. "We named this filly Drema because she is a DREAM of a filly" states Erika, "she just oozes quality!". Erika states that contrary to popular belief, auctions and kill buyers don’t just have crippled, old, blind, or crazy horses. They also have good, ride-able, quality horses too! Dreama is currently available for adoption. CLICK HERE to learn more about Dreama.

 Clifford (The Big Red Saddlebred)

Clifford was sent to auction for slaughter after no longer being able to pull buggies for 20+ miles. During rehab GHF discovered Clifford had a big personality.  He was once a show horse and remembered his lessons he learned in Saddlebred School.  Erika mentions that "Clifford is friendly and LOVES being groomed and doted on like he once was. He is once again glamorous!" We are happy to report that Clifford has been adopted by a new forever loving home.

Mariabella GH

GHF took in a 10 month old Arabian Filly on Saturday January 3, 2015  . "She was a breeder dump as she did not meet the breeder's standards for being a halter show horse" states Erika.  "This little one was passed to 3 different homes until coming to us with a broken jaw!"  GHF was able to obtain her Registration Application and has submitted it to the Arabian Horse Association.  She now has a name and her identity (Mariabella GH). "Again incredible results in just under two weeks!" Mariabella is not yet available for adoption, but will be in the future!

Grace came to GHF on Aug. 2, 2015. She is said to be three years old. Grace is still in the process of rehabilitation, but you can see how much she has progressed in just three weeks!  "Amazing what Manna Pro and good hay can do. She is working on shedding out her unhealthy old hair and making way for a new healthy shiny coat!" states Erika. Grace is not yet available for adoption, but will be in the future!

Goldie is a beautiful Arabian mare who was heading out to be slaughtered. "She is very sweet and loving. She arrived with Clifford so the two of them became the best of friends while at our farm" states Erika. Goldie has been adopted and has found her new forever loving home!

Grune Heidi Farm Rescue was founded to help rescue horses from slaughter & re-purpose them in the hopes they can live long, happy, and healthy lives! Saving the life of one horse won’t save the world but it will mean the world to that one horse."
